Rhea originates in Greek language and means "discharging, flowing", some sources also suggest the meaning "ground". Rhea was called 'the mother of gods' in Greek mythology. She was a Titaness and the mother of the Olympian gods. She was also mentioned in Roman mythology, as the mother of Romulus and Remus. It is also the name of a flightless bird in South America.
